The Washington Dental Service Foundation’s SmileMobile visited Vaughn Elementary the week of October 22 through October 26 to serve children in the Peninsula School District. Thanks to the partnership between school nurses, school counselors, Pierce County Dentists Care, Lindquist Dental Clinic and Communities in Schools of Peninsula, 33 students received dental care aboard the mobile dental clinic. Visiting dentist Dr. Rick Gad, clinic managers Rhonda Mennen and Monika Faro were assisted by Sarah Knight and April Spencer for the week of service. In addition, local dentist Dr. Robert Heaton joined the team to provide care to the children from across the school district.
Abe Salk, with Lindquist Dental Clinic, assisted with referrals to her clinic and Jennifer Bunch, with Pierce County Dentists Care, made additional appointments as necessary. The goal of the SmileMobile team is to ensure that all children have access to dental care and thanks to the teamwork of several organizations that goal became a reality. Thanks to all of the participating organizations instrumental in providing healthy smiles to the children in our community.
