Communities in Schools – Peninsula
Communities in Schools is a part of the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization, working in public schools to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
In the Peninsula School District last year, Communities in Schools site coordinators helped 3,304 students overcome barriers to success, stay on track to graduate, and aim for a brighter future.
Hands On Art
Peninsula Hands On Art was founded in 2003 and provides over 10,000 art projects to 2,700 students each year in the Peninsula School District. The organization is implemented and supported by the volunteer hours of hundreds of parents, teachers and artists who serve in a wide variety of ways to help bring a greater understanding of visual art and art history to children ages K-5th grade.
KP School Bus Connects
KP School Bus Connects provides an innovative program using school buses three times a day to assist the residents of the Key Peninsula in getting around.
Peninsula Schools Education Foundation
The Peninsula Schools Education Foundation (PSEF) supports high quality education for each child in the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula communities of Pierce County, Washington.
Great public schools require collaborative support by residents, business and community leaders and diverse organizations. PSEF’s primary contribution to this effort occurs through fundraising and grant making. Grants go directly to individuals or teams of teachers to fund innovative and relevant projects, curricula and learning opportunities in the District.
JA is turning the tide and helping young people face the challenges of the real world. JA is the largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.
Red Barn Youth Center
The Red Barn is a place for teens to connect. Our mission is to be a safe, welcoming place for Key Peninsula teens to recreate, socialize, find guidance, develop positive relationships and become community minded citizens.
