This is an exciting time in Peninsula School District; we will be opening a new elementary school in the fall of 2020 in the facility currently occupied by the Boys & Girls Club. This building will house students from overcrowded schools in the 2019-20 school year but will open as the district’s first Magnet School in 2020, drawing students from across the district. The Board of Directors unanimously approved opening this school as a Magnet School during the April 25th Board Meeting. Along with finding this school a name, we are looking to solidify its focus.
We want you to join us in creating the vision for this new school.
If you’re new to the idea of a Magnet School and our journey to this decision, please check out this FAQ on #10 Magnet School.
In February, the district surveyed the community on dreams around a theme for the magnet school. Here is a summary of responses from the 401 community participants.
Now that the Magnet School concept is a reality for PSD students, and greater communication has occurred around the rationale, we desire to engage the community in further conversation around these recommendations and other considerations. To participate in this conversation, please complete this form by Monday, May 13th.
It is our desire to have a theme recommendation for the Board of Directors by early June.
