PSD Showcases Educational Innovation at Swift Water Elementary

On Wednesday night, our community came together for an inspiring showcase of innovative education at Peninsula School District. The "Focus on Education Innovation" event at Swift Water Elementary drew educators, families, and community members eager to experience firsthand how PSD is preparing students for the future.

Students and teachers demonstrated cutting-edge programs including our astronomy photography, VR career exploration platform, Lego robots, and Unified E-Sports, and so much more. Visitors were particularly impressed by hands-on demonstrations of Gig Harbor High School’s use of AI to create accessible classrooms, the creativity of our students at Henderson Bay and Peninsula high schools, and by the many student-led initiatives in our younger grades.

"This event really highlighted how Peninsula School District is embracing innovative teaching methods and new technologies to enhance student learning," shared Mel Benner, PSD’s Innovation and Education Technology Coordinator. "Seeing our students confidently showcase their work and explain complex concepts to community members speaks to how creativity and the ability to fail and try new things in the classroom sparks growth.”
Thank you to everyone who attended and to our dedicated students and staff who made this showcase possible. Your enthusiasm and engagement demonstrate our community's shared commitment to educational excellence.
