At the PSD Board of Directors Study Session on April 11, 2019, the district presented final documents and information regarding their recommendations for School #10.
Dr. Jarvis explained that a “Magnet” school concept better described what the district was proposing and would be less confusing for the community. He outlined the rationale for the Board and confirmed it is a school for all students. Conceptually this model will alleviate overcrowding. The details of the rationale and for how this Magnet school would work for all students is outlined in this FAQ.
At the Regular Board meeting on April 25, 2019, the Board will formally consider the district’s recommendation that the school open as a Magnet (formerly referred to as Choice) School.
The district is also planning to recommend a principal for hire for school # 9 and school #10.
These principals will serve three roles initially:
- support for the students attending #10 in the fall of 2019 as an overcrowding solution;
- planning their buildings for opening in 2020 (#10) and 2021 (#9),
- and support for Artondale and Evergreen when their principals are out of the building to plan their school rebuilds.
