Dear Vaughn Families,
What a wonderful start to the school year. We had a fantastic turn out at our Ice Cream Social/Open House. School has been underway now for almost three weeks, and our students are getting settled into their classrooms. Our kindergarten and preschool programs have begun and all of our support staff have their programs up and running throughout the building. I am so excited to be a part of such a vibrant school atmosphere. Vaughn has exceptional staff, connected parents, and a wonderfully supportive community.
We have added some new teaching staff to the k-5th grade teachers who support our growing Vaughn Community. Many of you met our new teachers at our Ice Cream Social/Open House. Please help me welcome Ms. Leighton (2nd grade), Ms. Hasenkopf (3rd grade) , Mrs. D’Amico (Resource), Mr. Barron (Resource), Ms. Spencer (Options), Mrs. Stafki (5th grade), Mrs. Miller (5th grade), Mrs. Roberts (CIS). We are happy to welcome them aboard as new Huskies!

Goal setting conferences are coming up the week of October 22nd through October 26th. Students will come to school from 9 am to 12:15pm every day that week. Lunch will be served prior to dismissal. Some of you have already signed up for a conference at our Ice Cream Social/Open House. If you weren’t able to sign up, your child’s teacher will send a form home in the Friday Folder. Conferences will be held Monday, October 22nd 1-4, Tuesday, October 23rd 1-7pm, and Thursday October 25th from 1-7pm. We look forward to seeing you at conferences.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Mrs. Arneson will be visiting classrooms beginning next week to go over our expectations around recognizing, refusing, and reporting bullying. Did you know that we have expectations for students throughout the building that include being “Ready to Learn,” by being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe? Vaugh staff work regularly to teach these expectations thought the building. You may see Husky Paws come home that have these expectations highlighted on them. We talk regularly with students about what this looks and sounds like throughout the common areas and classrooms of our school.
Finally, you will see attached to my letter our parking lot guidelines. We appreciate your prudence when following our parking lot expectations. We are working diligently to help provide solutions with our parking. Our system does work when everyone joins in to make this process move smoothly. We are aware that parking is tight. Please look out for staff directing buses when you enter at the end of the day. Thanks for helping to keep parent pick-up a smooth process.
