AVID Mission:

To close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

Advancement Via Individual Determination is a college readiness system of support for students to increase awareness of, and access to, college and career success. AVID uses research based strategies and curriculum to develop students' critical thinking, literacy, and math skills. The goal is to develop effective strategy implementation among educators and students schoolwide through the use of WICOR activities- Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading. The program is currently run at Key Peninsula Middle School and Peninsula High School.
