A Pathway to Graduation

Students meet their graduation pathway requirement by completing district approved two (2.0) credits of career technical education (CTE) coursework connected to their high school and beyond plan (HSBP).

Agriculture - Environmental Sciences and Gheco

The Gig Harbor High School Agriculture Program offers students an engaging pathway to explore agricultural science, environmental stewardship, and sustainable practices. Supported by our student-led CTSO, Gheco (Gig Harbor Environmental & Conservation Organization), participants can apply their learning through community projects, leadership opportunities, and real-world problem-solving. Gheco empowers students to lead environmental initiatives, enhancing their understanding of conservation and agricultural innovation. PSD Announces Aviation Academy Located at Henderson Bay

The Peninsula School District (PSD) is excited to announce the launch of the Aviation Academy located at Henderson Bay, offering ALL PSD students a dynamic path to careers in aviation. In collaboration with the Museum of Flight and Tacoma Narrows Airport, the Academy provides hands-on training, flight simulators, and dual-credit opportunities with local colleges. High school juniors and seniors from any of our High Schools (Peninsula, Gig Harbor, and Henderson) will have the chance to earn industry certifications and explore high-demand careers in aerospace, piloting, and more. Skilled and Technical Sciences - Architecture and Construction Program

Peninsula School District’s Skilled and Technical Sciences program in Architecture and Construction equips students with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed for success in high-demand skilled trades. With courses in Manufacturing and the Skilled Trades Pre-Apprenticeship program at Peninsula High School, students gain valuable technical skills while earning industry-recognized certifications, including First Aid, CPR, Forklift, Scissor Lift, OSHA 10, and Flagger.     Military 

    Peninsula School District has a military career program called NJROTC, or Navyl Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. 

    The NJROTC Program at Peninsula High School is an integral component of the Career and Life Readiness programs offered by the Peninsula School District (PSD). Our primary focus is on nurturing essential qualities and skills in students that will benefit them throughout their lives. This program exposes students to valuable lessons in citizenship and leadership, fostering a sense of belonging, cultivating a sense of accomplishment, and finding a sense of direction.

    Located at Peninsula High School, the NJROTC program is available to all high school students ages 14 and older throughout the district. The program structure offers the same curriculum, training, and competition opportunities for students as those provided by the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program.

  • Work-Based Learning (WBL) is an essential part of our CTE programs, offering students real-world experience in their chosen career fields.

  • Specialized CTE equipment can be expensive for district’s to purchase and maintain, so regional skills centers, like West Sound Tech Skills (WST) in Bremerton, offer programs for students who attend school in neighboring districts.  PSD students can attend half-day CTE programs at WST to obtain high school academic credit, college credit, industry certifications, career-connected learning, and college entrance requirements.
