WELCOME TO OUR DISTRICT

The Peninsula School District is home to a vibrant community of over 8,000 students across 17 schools. Located across the picturesque Puget Sound from the Seattle/Tacoma area, our district covers 120 square miles on the scenic Gig Harbor and Key Peninsulas. Recognized as one of the strongest and most innovative districts in Washington State, we are dedicated to inspiring and empowering every child, every day.

MEET OUR SUPERINTENDENT

Superintendent Krestin Bahr, woman with blonde hair and a warm smile stands in front of a green tree.

Krestin Bahr has been leading the Peninsula School District since July 1, 2021, bringing over 39 years of educational experience to her role. Her career began in the classroom as a teacher and progressed through various leadership positions, including Principal, Director of Middle Schools, and Mt. Tahoma Regional Director for Tacoma Public Schools. Bahr holds a Master of Education from City University, a Bachelor of Arts from Pacific Lutheran University, and a Superintendent Certification from Washington State University.

Before joining the Peninsula School District, Bahr served as Superintendent of the Eatonville School District for eight years, where she earned two nominations for the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) Superintendent of the Year. Since her tenure at Peninsula, she was honored as the 2023 Leader of Distinction by the Washington Association of School Business Officials and currently serves on the Executive Board for AASA, representing Region 1 on the West Coast. Additionally, Bahr served as President of the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) from 2019-2020.

Bahr has made significant contributions to the district, securing Arts Impact and Mastery-Based Learning grants for schools. Under her leadership, Pioneer Elementary and Evergreen Elementary were recognized as OSPIs STEM Lighthouse School and named Green leaders for Swiftwater and Voyager Elementaries. In 2024 the USDOE. Department of Education and OSPI named both Evergreen Elementary, and Artondale Elementary, the state of Washington's GREEN Schools, further demonstrating the district's commitment to sustainability and environmental education.

Krestin Bahr has been married to her husband, Bryon, for 40 years. They have three grown children and are proud grandparents to four grandchildren.
