Candy Lawson

Facilities Manager

Welcome to the Peninsula School District's Capital Projects Department. Our mission is to manage and oversee the development and improvement of school facilities, ensuring they meet the needs of our growing and evolving community. We are committed to creating safe, modern, and efficient learning environments that support student success.

Community supported:

In February 2023, the PSD community passed a Safety, Security, and Technology (SST) Levy and a Replacement Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy. The SST Levy provides dedicated funding for enhanced safety and security systems, such as secure building access controls, security cameras, and more. The Replacement EP&O Levy is critical in funding maintenance projects, transportation, and many educational programs and resources.

In February 2019, the PSD community passed a $198.55 million bond for school construction to address extreme elementary overcrowding and other emergent infrastructure needs.

The projects identified in the bond included:

  • A replacement of Artondale Elementary and Evergreen Elementary
  • Construction of Swift Water Elementary and Pioneer Elementary

All four elementary school projects were completed in 2022.

Once the district created a plan to address elementary overcrowding and emergent facility needs, the next priority was addressing middle school overcrowding.

Because of cost-saving steps made by the district, additional state assistance for Swift Water Elementary, and an accelerated construction schedule for the elementary projects, PSD modernized and added additional classrooms at Kopachuck Middle School and Key Peninsula Middle School using 2019 capital bond funds.

This would not have been possible without the support of our voters. Thank you!
