Possible Upcoming Bus Route Delays

Dear PSD Staff and Families,

Due to a shortage of bus drivers, seasonal illness, and unplanned medical leaves, there is a possibility your student's bus route schedule may be impacted. Unlike last school year, we do not anticipate needing to cancel any bus routes, however some bus routes may be delayed by 30 to 90 minutes. To help reduce delay times, another PSD bus may cover your student’s route.

On a daily basis we will assess our driver availability and determine route coverage. If your student’s route will be delayed on any given day, you will be notified via ParentSquare and the My Ride K-12 app. Our goal is to send delay notifications the night before, and if there are any additional adjustments the morning of, we will send notices by 5:45 a.m. for high school, 6:45 a.m. for middle school, and 7:45 a.m. for elementary school. (All times adjusted 1 hour later on Wednesdays.)

If your student is late to class due to a delay, this will be considered an excused tardy. We encourage your family to plan ahead in case of delays. We apologize for the inconvenience this could cause, and we are working diligently to avoid any bus delays.

We would like to thank our learning community for your understanding of the challenges that have impacted PSD transportation. If you or anyone you know is interested in joining our team, we always have training opportunities available to become a full or part-time driver. Paid training can take as little as 20 work days to complete, and no prior experience is required. Apply now at psd401.net/jobs.

We remain committed to running as many bus routes as possible without delays, while keeping student and driver health and safety as our first priorities. Please contact the Transportation Department with any questions at (253) 530-3900.

Sincerely,

PSD Transportation Department
