PSD Educators Lead the Way in AI Education Innovation

Peninsula School District continues to break new ground in educational technology, with three of our dedicated educators selected for Google's prestigious AI+Education Fellowship. Kayla Frank (Kopachuck Middle School), Dave Stitt (Peninsula High School), and Heather Whyte (Harbor Ridge Middle School) were chosen from hundreds of applicants across North America, making PSD the only Washington state district represented in this elite program.

Over 16 weeks, these innovative teachers collaborated with peers from across the Americas to develop cutting-edge projects that enhance learning through artificial intelligence. Their work showcases PSD's commitment to embracing technology that benefits both students and staff.

Stitt transformed complex chemistry and physics concepts into accessible learning experiences using Google's NotebookLM as a personalized tutoring tool. Whyte developed "Gemini's Genius," streamlining administrative tasks so teachers can focus more on student interaction. Frank pioneered new approaches to provide students with more efficient, personalized feedback.

The fellowship culminated with our educators presenting their innovations directly to Google employees in New York City, where they helped shape the future of educational technology tools.

"We were able to influence how Google builds its tools," Whyte shared. "They're very open to looking for ways to leverage their technology that they may not have thought of."

These educators continue sharing their expertise across our district, implementing AI tools that make education more accessible and engaging for every student and staff member.
